Octopus Studio is a fluid concept; a fully functional lesson/recording studio swimming through the city of New Brunswick and its surrounding areas.
The word octopus instantly conjures up an eight-armed creature, constantly moving and able to perform multiple tasks at once.
This is what I do. I teach, write, arrange, produce, record, perform, and promote music. I do all of these things not because I have to but because each of them allows me to appreciate music from a different angle.
About Me
My name is Joseph Fekete and I live and work out of New Brunswick, NJ. I've been playing the guitar and making music for almost 15 years.

During my time with the instrument I have studied blues, jazz, pop, rock, country, indie, surf, alternative, and everything in between. Some of my past instructors include Tony DeMarco, Neil Nemetz, and Howard Alden. I work with my own band, The Delfields, as well as numerous other clients.

Lessons
How I Teach
My approach to guitar instruction is simple; I teach you what you want to know and use your musical interests to help facilitate a greater knowledge of the instrument.
Learning to play guitar in a vacuum will ultimately create a wall between you and your goals. Whether you want to master the guitar, learn a new genre, or just play a few songs, having at the very least a basic understanding of theory and why things work the way they do will vastly improve your results.
Think for a moment of trying to learn a language and only learning a few phrases; your conversational skills would be inherently limited and your interaction with native speakers would be less than adequate.
Simply learning chords, scales, and songs in a haphazard fashion will yield similar results. Now imagine that you have a basic command of some very fundamental grammatical structures; perhaps you won't be writing the next great novel but you will at least be able to hold your own. This is how I teach.
Regardless of what you are trying to achieve, it will be enhanced by understand the nuts and bolts of what you're doing.

Recording
The world of music is rapidly changing; long gone are the days of gigantic overpriced recording studios. The advent of computer recording has ushered in a new era of portability as well as frugality. Recording music should be an exciting, relaxed, and fluid process; not one riddled with anxiety over exorbitant hourly rates. Octopus Recording Studio is a fully functional, completely mobile recording setup with the capability to go to just about any location with a power outlet.
At Octopus Studio the hourly prices are reasonable and what you get is a lot; location recording, numerous setups including full band live room tracking, digital or analog mixing, and if your project requires them, a producer (myself) and session musicians are also available (price varies according to the scope of the project). I pride myself on the ability to take an idea regardless of where it emanates from and turn it into sonic reality exactly the way that it was conceived with no compromises.
There are no frills and no gimmicks; just clean, quality audio tracking at an affordable price.
