about

At Octopus Music Studio, we teach guitar, bass, piano, and drums. Our approach to instruction is simple; we teach you what you want to know while using your musical interests to facilitate a greater understanding of your instrument. Learning to play music in a vacuum will ultimately create a wall between you and your goals. Whether you want to master the drums, learn a new style on the piano, or just play a few songs on the guitar, having at least a basic understanding of music theory will dramatically improve your results.

Think for a moment of trying to learn a language and only learning a few phrases; your conversational skills would be limited and your interaction with native speakers would be less than adequate. Simply learning chords, scales, and songs in a haphazard fashion will yield similar results.

Now imagine that you have a basic command of some fundamental grammar and syntax; conversation will come easier and understanding others will no longer seem so difficult. Regardless of what you are trying to achieve musically, it will be enhanced by understanding the nuts and bolts of what you are playing.

This is how we teach.

faq
Q: What will I learn?

Q: How long are lessons?
A: Lessons are either half an hour or one hour in duration.

Q: Do you have any references?
A: Yes, don’t hesitate to ask us for them.

A: All skill levels from beginner to advanced.
Q: What ages do you teach?
A: From 6+
Q: Where do lessons take place?
A: At our studio.

special needs students

Octopus Music Studios offers guitar lessons geared towards individuals with special needs. These one-on-one lessons are provided by instructors who have years of experience participating in art and music programs for children and young adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities.

Learning the guitar helps to develop fine motor skills in addition to providing students with a productive outlet for creativity. Our lessons are structured so that the focus of each lesson is clear but in no way strict; we always leave our students with room to have fun and explore self-expression.
